Sex Discrimination

Introduction
This assignment examined a workplace discrimination issue, notably sex discrimination, and required developing a formal employee training presentation to address inequitable practices, legal violations, and cultural concerns within FEF, Inc. Using federal guidelines under Title VII, the project explored how discriminatory behaviors—both subtle and overt—undermine employee well-being, ethical standards, organizational culture, and compliance with employment law.

Summary of Assignment
I developed a PowerPoint training program for FEF, Inc., an imaginary company, to educate its employees on sex discrimination and the organization’s Title VII legal responsibilities. The presentation explained the applicable federal law in clear, accessible terms and outlined behaviors that constitute discrimination. I also identified practical, actionable steps the company should adopt—including improved reporting processes, supervisory accountability, and preventive training—to reduce liability and promote an inclusive workplace. This project required translating legal standards into understandable guidance and designing compliance-focused content that supports both fairness and organizational responsibility.

Skills and Competencies Demonstrated

  • Application of federal employment law and EEOC guidance

  • Ability to design clear, compliance-focused employee training

  • Analysis of ethical issues such as gender stereotyping and harassment

  • Evaluation of leadership accountability and reporting responsibilities

  • Development of practical, policy-driven prevention strategies

Reflection & Growth
This project deepened my understanding of how discriminatory behaviors arise and how readily they can erode trust and organizational integrity if left unaddressed. Creating the training reinforced the importance of proactive, transparent HR leadership and the need for employees to feel safe reporting misconduct. I also gained a greater appreciation for the cultural dimensions of discrimination—recognizing how subtle biases, stereotypes, and favoritism can create systemic inequities unless organizations intervene with clarity and consistency.

Connection to Program Outcomes
The assignment aligns with the Management program outcomes related to ethical decision-making, HR strategy, legal compliance, and organizational leadership. It demonstrates my ability to translate employment law into accessible training, evaluate discriminatory practices, and develop solutions that reinforce fairness, accountability, and employee protection.
